What is FTTR? What is the Difference Between FTTR and FTTH?

FTTR stands for “Fiber to the Room,” a networking solution where fiber optic cables are extended directly to individual rooms within a building, SUch as in a home, office, or hotel. This approach ensures high-speed internet access with minimal loss of signal quality, even over longer distances within the premises.

On the other hand, FTTH, or “Fiber to the Home,” refers to the installation of fiber optic cables that deliver internet connectivity directly to a residential building or home. With FTTH, the fiber connection typically ends at a central point within the home, such as a router or modem, from which the internet is distributed to different rooms via Wi-Fi or wired connections.

The main difference between FTTR and FTTH lies in the extent of fiber deployment. FTTH brings fiber to the home as a whole, while FTTR extends fiber connectivity further into individual rooms for improved performance and coverage. FTTR is often used in scenarios where ultra-fast and reliable internet is required in every room.
